Volunteer drivers are urgently needed to transport wildlife patients. Based at the Wacol Animal Care Campus, the job would suit any applicants that are passionate about animal welfare, have a commitment to learn and are particularly interested in wildlife rehabilitation.
This role of transport driver involves a lot of travel around Brisbane and the surrounding areas in an RSPCA vehicle. Duties include collecting, transporting, reuniting and releasing wildlife. You will be required to be outdoors for extended periods of time.
The role is available Monday to Sunday, 8am-12pm or 12pm-4pm. We ask for a minimum commitment of 4 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months. Full orientation and training is provided, however for legal reasons all applicants must be over 25 years old.
Skills required? A willingness to learn, wildlife knowledge or training would obviously be an advantage. A clean open manual drivers licence is required.
Skills to be gained? Wildlife rehabilitation experience, increased awareness of our native wildlife and the problems they face and animal handling identification skills.
